Use of Information Project
Connect was chosen to develop an
English language web-based tool
allowing trusts throughout England and
Wales to perform self assessment of
their Use of Information. Individual
trusts completed a multiple choice
online form which asked questions such
as ‘How were clinical staff involved
in the production of your information
strategy?’ and ‘How regularly are
clinical outcomes reported to the
board?' The results were then subject
to complex algorithmic manipulation to
produce key findings, showing levels
of priority and urgency. A score and a
ranking were then presented to the
user, identifying gaps and areas of
underperformance, which required
action (if any).
The integrated solution allowed the
Commission to manage the questions and
apply the algorithms using standard
spreadsheet software, which was then
used to generate the online tool.
