In the May 2007 edition of Third
Sector, the UK’s leading publication
for the voluntary and not-for-profit
sector, an evaluation is given of the
v portal, designed and developed by
Connect. They rated the portal 5/5 for
innovation and noted the special
features of the portal such as the
fact that users can ask mentors from v
to contact them by telephone and
discuss content on the website, and
can also ask for contact details for
volunteering organizations and advice
teams where they live. Ian Finch from Connect Internet Solutions (Director - Technical Development) says, “We are delighted that the innovative aspects of the v portal have been recognized by such an influential publication. The portal is a vehicle by which v can engage with young people, and encourage more volunteering activity by them. As such it had to have features that would appeal to them” v says: "The site is a great place to find out about volunteering experiences, and we're sure there will be many funny and unusual stories that show how exciting and diverse volunteering can be. It's fantastic that, even during the test phase of the site, we have attracted more than 2,000 young people to register, 66 per cent of whom are new to volunteering." Other aspects of the portal such as content, navigation and accessibility also scored highly in the evaluation. |
